Cernavodă nuclear power plant is one of the safest in the world

The international assessment mission of the Cernavodă nuclear power plant, conducted between 2 and 20 November 2015 by experts from the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO), indicated a high level of nuclear safety, informs Nuclearelectrica, the plant operator.

“Nuclear safety is the absolute priority of CNE Cernavodă, and our daily activities are conducted in compliance with the highest nuclear safety standards, coupled with a strong culture of nuclear safety, efficient control and maintenance programs, investment programs tailored to our needs to develop and maintain the level of nuclear safety, staff training programs and highly specialized personnel both in operation and in related and support areas. We are proud to have fields where the level of nuclear safety is qualified as excellent by international experts in the nuclear field”, said Ionel Bucur, General Director of the plant.

“Nuclearelectrica’s priority is and will remain the nuclear safety because it is the basis of all other results of the company, therefore our commitment to this effect in the long run led to the expected results. The fact that we are among the best in the world in terms of nuclear safety is due in full to the professionalism of our staff. WANO is a non-profit international organization established in 1989 by worldwide nuclear operators to exchange information and experience between organizations operating commercial nuclear units. WANO members operate 440 nuclear units in over 30 countries.
