Group 5 at Rovinari coal plant will be completed by 2020 by own forces, CEO Oltenia CEO, Sorin Boza, told energynomics.ro.

“There has never been a problem of failing to meet the Group 5 Rovinari in time. It will be completed within the proposed deadline and set for approval, that is, the end of 2020. We have allocated up to now 65% of the total volume of investments,” Boza said.

For 2019, the sum allotted for Group 5 is of about 80 million lei, Boza said.

Earlier, a senior official said CE Oltenia, “strangled by CO2 certificates, will not be able to meet its Group 5 commissioning target in 2020 as it has assumed” without additional support.

The Oltenia Energy Complex ended with losses last year due to the high carbon dioxide emissions certificates costs.
