Therme Group and RCI Holding have announced the merger of their energy management solutions practices, bringing together EVOLVE Energy Management Solutions and VoltLink into a single integrated platform called Apex Response Technologies, focused on energy efficiency, flexibility, and direct participation in energy and balancing markets.

According to the parties involved, the decision responds to the rapid changes in the electricity sector and the need to move towards a decentralized model dominated by renewable sources. In this context, energy management is no longer just a cost control function, but is becoming a strategic tool for creating value. At the same time, companies increasingly need advanced forecasting, real-time optimization, and direct access to energy markets and balancing services to remain competitive.

The new platform resulting from the merger combines VoltLink technology with EVOLVE’s market intelligence and operational expertise. Within this structure, Apex Response Technologies is positioned as both an aggregator and commercial operator of assets, with the aim of enabling customers to monetize flexibility at scale by leveraging distributed energy resources.

In a press release, Dan Stratan, CEO of RCI Holding, pointed out that the merger brings together technology and market intelligence in a single architecture to extract concrete value from efficiency, flexibility, and distributed assets, arguing that this step advances the mission of connecting innovation with real market needs. Robert Hanea, CEO of Therme Group, said the partnership is shaping the “next generation” of energy systems, where advanced response technologies enable real-time efficiency, operational flexibility, and long-term sustainability at scale.

Raul Toma, managing partner at EVOLVE Energy Management Solutions, said that the merger offers customers a unique, comprehensive path from site-level efficiency to full participation in balancing markets, emphasizing that by combining VoltLink technology with EVOLVE’s market expertise, flexibility is transformed into predictable and bankable value.

From the perspective of an industrial end user, Viorel Beltechi, Vice President of Energy and Engineering at Therme Group, states that for a global operator of large, energy-intensive destinations, efficiency and flexibility are not optional, but strategic. He believes that integrating digital optimization with direct market participation enables active energy management as a value driver at the portfolio level, and that the partnership strengthens the scalability of sustainable operations while maintaining resilience in an increasingly dynamic market environment.
