Best newcomer – 2022 Energynomics Awards nominations

We are starting to present the 2022 nominations for the Energynomics Awards, with the “Best newcomer” – category supported by Photomate. Four projects were registered. Only one of the projects below will be rewarded at the Gala on December 8, but each company and all the people involved in these projects deserve our respect and the widest promotion. We thank all the companies and personalities who got involved in this effort to draw the image of the Romanian energy industry in 2022 through its successes!

Association of Energy and Electrical Engineers – AIEE

The Association of Power Engineers and Electricians – AIEE is a professional, non-governmental, non-profit, apolitical, independent organization, established in 2022, which has already implemented projects useful in the energy field. AIEE members can be natural persons, professionals in the field of energy, electricity or related fields. Currently, there are 46 individual members, and 26 students carry out volunteer activities within the association.

In the first year after its foundation, the following projects were implemented: “Career Forum in the energy industry”, 9-14 May 2022, “Career Days in the energy industry”, 31 October-04 November 2022. AIEE organized over 10 technical visits to the main energy objectives (NPP Cernavodă, CHP Porțile de Fier 1, CHP Lotru Ciunget, CHP Vidraru, CET Vest, CEF Mireasa, etc.).

 

Delgaz Grid – 20HyGrid Project

The aim of the project is both to analyze the compatibility and behavior of the elements of the existing distribution networks, consisting of the mixture of natural gas and hydrogen in proportion of 20% in the natural gas networks and user installations. The project will run in two phases. In the first phase, tests will be carried out in the company’s own training range in Mediaș. The second phase has two phases and will be carried out on sections of steel and polyethylene network selected for this project, to which customers are connected.

 

European Energy

The new European Energy’s office in Bucharest will support European Energy’s ambition to develop, construct and operate a portfolio of large-scale renewable energy projects. European Energy is pursuing its expansion of activities in Romania, having under development a pipeline of 935MW renewable energy with 810 MW in solar and 125 MW in wind. The first solar park project of 20MW is ready to build and the construction is scheduled to start within 2023. The company has also received grid connection approval for another 125 MW project which is well in progress.

 

Menlo Electric – State-of-the-art photovoltaic technologies

Menlo Electric actively supports Romania’s transition in the energy field, developing long-term partnerships at the local level, while also bringing the benefits of established brands closer to users.

Menlo Electric SA (Poland) is the fastest-growing PV distributor in Europe and the Middle East. The company was conceived from the beginning as an international distributor. It delivers goods worth more than 12 million euros monthly, in more than 27 countries. Menlo Electric is one of the top 5 EU distributors of PV brands Jinko Solar and Risen Energy, as well as an official EU distributor for JA Solar, Sungrow, SolarEdge and FoxESS.

 

Nuclearelectrica – Project of small modular reactors

On May 24, 2022, Nuclearelectrica, NuScale and Nova Power & Gas (the owner of the site) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to analyze the development of the first small modular reactor (SMR) in Romania on the site of the former thermal power plant in Doicești, county The lady NuScale will support Nuclearelectrica in the evaluation of this technology, and together the two companies will take steps to develop a 6-module, 462 MWe NuScale plant this decade. The partnership serves as a catalyst for the implementation of SMR in other states in the 3 Seas Region that are in the process of decarbonization.

 

Transelectrica – DigiTEL Alba Iulia

The DigiTEL Alba Iulia pilot project for the modernization of the 220/110/20 kV Alba Iulia station in a digital concept represents the flagship project in the research and innovation field of Transelectrica, which will define the power station model of the future at industry level. The digital station will be a basic element for increasing the safety, productivity and reliability of Transelectrica and for reducing costs in the management of the station.

The Digital Station Concept Transelectrica will promote the innovative technologies associated with this concept, taking into account the solutions promoted by the best suppliers in the field (Best in Class): Digital Station, Digital Twin, Augmented Reality, Asset Management, Expert Systems based on artificial intelligence and cloudification, 3D Scanning and Modeling, Smart Lab, Modern learning solutions part of the E-learning platform, Smart and passive building, Technologies with low environmental impact (e.g. power transformers with ecological oil), Smart Metering, Smart lighting, Geographic Information System, Outage Management System, Self-consumption optimization solution (photovoltaic + storage), E-mobility.
