The Integrated National Plan for Energy and Climate Change needs to be amended as a matter of urgency, as the European Commission has come up with two new proposals to increase renewable energy production, Vice President of the National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE), Zoltan Nagy-Bege said on Thursday.

“There is an urgent need for a reassessment of the National Integrated Energy Plan for Climate Change, after the European Commission proposed, in the meantime, two packages of measures, Fit for 55 and RePowerEU,” Bege said.

He claimed that there were some inconsistencies between PNIESC and Transelectrica’s 10-year development plan.

“The flexibility of the network is absolutely necessary if we want to integrate and build renewable capacities. In fact, we currently have in the public debate a package of regulations that targets exactly this, the flexibility of the network,” added the ANRE official, according to Agerpres .

In April, Dan Dragan, Secretary of State in the Ministry of Energy, said that Romania will start upgrading the National Integrated Energy Plan for Clinical Change this year, and the target we have now – 30.7% for renewable energy by 2030 – will be significantly increased.

“We want to install 950 MW of capacity by 2024. We will start upgrading the National Integrated Climate Change Energy Plan this year, and the 30.5% target will increase significantly,” Dragan said.
