The National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE) approved commercial operating licenses for over 325 MW of new energy capacities, of which approximately 177 MW represent electricity storage capacities and approximately 149 MW represent renewable energy generation capacities.

“At a delicate moment for the National Energy System, ANRE today approved commercial operating licenses for over 325 MW of new energy capacities. Of these: approximately 177 MW represent electricity storage capacities; approximately 149 MW represent renewable energy production capacities. At the same time, within ANRE, projects totaling approximately 1,600 MW are in various stages of analysis and finalization of documentation. However, they all have one thing in common: they do not yet have the connection certificate, a document without which the operating license cannot be issued. Therefore, I express my expectation that the distribution operators and the Transmission and System Operator, as the case may be, will accelerate the processes that fall under their responsibility. Romania needs these investments to enter into operation as quickly as possible,” announced ANRE President George Niculescu on his Facebook page.

At ANRE level, two meetings of the Regulatory Committee are being organized during this period each week, in order to reduce the time required to grant licenses for projects that have completed technical tests and are ready to deliver energy to the National Energy System.

The next meeting of the Regulatory Committee will take place on Thursday, July 30.

“Investments do not produce energy as long as they remain in files. They produce energy only when all the institutions involved do their part of the responsibility, and the projects are put into operation,” Niculescu emphasized.
