Romania has the necessary capacity and strength to keep the energy system in the Republic of Moldova in balance, Gabriel Andronache, vice-president of the National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE), said on Monday.

“Things evolved in such a way that the decision was made and there were older decisions in those memorandums that were constantly updated and the last one was updated this year in April, to build a 400 KV line between Suceava and Balti, a 138 km line (…) And, at the same time, Isaccea-Vulcăneşti, which is operating at the moment, will be continued with a 400 km line to Chişinău and which is already under construction. Current consumption in the Republic Moldova is about 800 MWh, in the Chisinau area about 600 – 650 per peak, compared to what Romania’s consumption means, which at the peak reaches somewhere around 7,000, and having an installed capacity of over 18,300 megawatts, I consider and consider that we have the capacity and the necessary force to be able to keep the energy system in the Republic of Moldova in balance,” Andronache said at a conference organized by the Competition Council, according to Agerpres.

He emphasized that at the level of regulatory authorities in the field of energy in the two countries, the collaboration is very good and there is a program of cooperation and assistance that is constantly updated.

“At this moment it has been updated for the next period. A month, a month and a bit ago, on September 26, it was signed in Chisinau and tomorrow (Tuesday – n. r.), at the ANRE headquarters, the plan will be signed of the implementation of this program for the year 2024. There are some things that seem like that, small, but behind the scenes it means a lot of work and easily, easily, they are implemented, because there is an ever-increasing openness on the part of colleagues in the Republic Moldova. I have been to the Republic of Moldova several times, I was also in Odesa during the war, last year, in September. As in any difficult situation, opportunities also appeared and this time the Republic of Moldova wanted to use them and I consider that he has a good path, and we, as older brothers, offer to help him and fulfill all the conditions to enter this great European family that helped us and to help them too,” also said the vice president of ANRE.

He recalled that, starting from 2012, several memoranda were signed between Romania and the Republic of Moldova in the area of energy, electricity and gas, which later made it possible to implement some important projects between the two countries.
