The new Park & Ride car park in Cluj-Napoca, located near the Avram Iancu International Airport, has been equipped with modern electric charging infrastructure supplied by ABB Romania. The project, finalised by Promelek XXI with the support of Ianus SRL Zalău, supports the city’s efforts to encourage sustainable transport and reduce the pressure on urban traffic.
With a capacity of 850 spaces, it is the largest car park of its kind in Cluj-Napoca and is intended to be a nodal point between individual mobility and the public transport network. Users can park their personal vehicles and continue their journey by public transport, while their electric cars are safely charged.
ABB, a global provider of electrification technology, supplied 5 ABB Terra DC 120 kW and 20 ABB Terra AC 22 kW fast charging stations for this project. Each DC unit is capable of simultaneously charging two vehicles with 60 kW or a single vehicle at the maximum power of 120 kW, an essential feature for a constant flow in a transit car park.
In addition, due to limitations in the local power distribution network, ABB integrated the Terra Gateway solution, an intelligent energy management system that optimises load distribution and prevents overloading of the grid. By balancing consumption and prioritising charging needs, this technology ensures a reliable and efficient user experience.
