The record volume of green certificates of about 993,000 units sold Friday on the PCSCV spot market segment must be attributed to suppliers urge to fulfil the end of the month’s quota, Martin Moise, vice president, Patres, told energynomics.ro.

„Suppliers must meet at the end of the month, according to the new ANRE methodology, the mandatory quota. Otherwise, they risk fines,” Moise said, explaining that suppliers are still looking to meet their needs through bilateral contracts.

„Friday’s sale was an oxygen breath for some players who had not previously sold any GCs. But in the market the excess of certificates is huge, about 11.5 million units,” Moise added.

According to ANRE’s new methodology, suppliers have a five working day period to make GC purchases to fill mandatory quotas in the first month after the end of the quarter in question. The sale takes place six working days before the end of the month in question. In other words, the acquisition period started on April 12 and will end on 18 April.

This is the result of the tenders, up to now, in the PCSCV segment:

  • April 12 – 992,969 GC
  • April 15 – 2,187 GC
  • April 16 – 21.390 GC (h 14.30).
