The Minister of Economy, Energy and Business Environment, Virgil-Daniel Popescu, welcomes the decision of the European Commission regarding the allocation of 53 million euro for the extension program in Romania of charging stations for vehicles with low emissions, according to Agerpres.

According to a press release from the ministry, the head of the economy had a series of working meetings in Brussels on Monday with Margrethe Vestager, executive vice president and European Commissioner for Competition, Kadri Simson, European Commissioner for Energy and Thierry Breton, European Commissioner for the domestic Market.

The EU executive approved on Monday a public support scheme through which Romania will grant 53 million euro for low-emission vehicle recharge stations, in line with EU state aid rules.

According to the European Commission, the measure will contribute to reducing CO2 and other pollutant emissions without unduly distorting competition in the single market.
