Solutions that help you save the so-called “vampire” energy consumption, or which propose an ecological alternative to using your personal car in major cities; projects demonstrating how to ensure the energy independence of a locality with the help from “green” energy, but also how to stop food waste or how to educate and stimulate the children’s concern for environmental protection – these are just some of the 15 projects and initiatives nominated by the jury of the E.ON Energy Globe Award Romania to enter the final of this year’s competition.

They were selected from a total of over 160 energy efficiency and environmental protection projects registered on the energyglobe.ro platform by the deadline of June 16th.

The 15 nominated projects were severed following a careful review process by an independent jury. The tie breaking was based on evaluation criteria, each with its own percentages, which take into account the attractiveness of the project, its degree of innovation, the potential for replication of that initiative and the energy efficiency component.

After reviewing each project, the jury members drew up a short list of the three best projects in each of the five categories, and then they will choose those that would win those categories. Also, the role of the jury will be to nominate the general winner of the competition, who will represent Romania at the international stage of the Energy Globe Award next year. The award ceremony will take place at a Gala organized in October in Bucharest.

An absolute novelty of this year’s competition is the introduction of online voting, an option by which the visitors of the energyglobe.ro portal can vote for the favorite project, which will receive the “Popularity Award”. This symbolic prize is awarded to the project that will record the highest number of online votes from September 1st to September 30th. The details of the participation conditions and voting mechanism can be found on the competition website as well as on the Facebook page.
