Corporate Social Responsibility – 2018 energynomics Awards nominations

We continue to present the 2018 nominations for the energynomics.ro Awards, with the Corporate Social Responsibility category. Only one of the projects below will be rewarded during the Gala from December 5th, but young energy specialist nominated deserve our respect and the widest promotion. We thank all the companies and personalities involved in this effort to draw the image of the Romanian energy industry in 2018 through its achievements!

CE Oltenia – Decontamination technologies

CE Oltenia has applied the best decontamination technologies, among which facilities to improve air quality by reducing NOx emissions. Workings for their implementation at blocks 6 SE Rovinari and 5-6 SE Turceni were started in 2017 and completed in 2018, an investment of 30 million lei. Thus the NOx concentration of the combustion gases was reduced from 500 mg / nmc to less than 200 mg / nmc, in order to observe the current legislative provisions.

CE Oltenia – Dual education

CE Oltenia supports the vocational training of more than 140 young people through dual education in partnership with educational institutions that qualify them in the professions / occupations specific to the field of power generation, respectively lignite extraction.

The duration of a framework contract is 3 years, during the period 2018-2021, the students being able to benefit from incentives allocated by CE Oltenia, in a total amount of about 1.2 million lei, including: monthly scholarship (200 lei), annual performance scholarship 300 lei for the first 5 students in each class, protection equipment, technical equipment, practical training provided by the best professionals in the company.

CEZ Romania – Good Generators

The “Good Generators” project competition, part of the CEZ Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility Platform in Romania, proposes to employees to enroll projects for supporting or solving a social problem in the communities they are part of. The projects enrolled fall into the following areas: education, health, environmental protection, or local community development, and the maximum amount that a winning project can receive is 5000 euros. The deployment area includes 9 counties in Romania: Dolj, Teleorman, Mehedinti, Arges, Olt, Valcea, Gorj, Caras-Severin, Constanta. The selection was carried out by a Jury (3 representatives of the CEZ Group in Romania and an external expert in CSR projects), based on: relevance, SMART objectives, realistic planning of activities, realistic and transparent budget, sustainability and impact of the project.

At its second edition, the “Good Generators” project contest is based on promoting volunteering amongst company employees and initiatives that have a positive impact on the local community. In 2017 and 2018, CEZ Romania awarded 40,000 euros to winning projects.

CEZ Romania – Marathon of Oltenia

At its sixth edition in 2018, the Marathon of Oltenia is a tradition for the company, combining the promotion of outdoor sports and involvement in social causes relevant to the local community. According to the first Impact Report launched by the CEZ Group in Romania, by 2016, the event numbered over 13,800 beneficiaries, and the novelty of the 2018 edition was represented by the idea to support three social causes with a positive impact on the local community in Oltenia.

The Marathon of Oltenia hosts trail running and MTB competitions annually in the last weekend of August. During the two days of the competition, the competitors and their supporters can enjoy thematic activities in the areas of Zăvoi Park. In addition to promoting a healthy lifestyle, the 2018 edition aimed at meeting the needs of 3 projects. The money collected from the enrollments was doubled by the company and divided in direct proportion to the number of options expressed by participants to each of the three social causes.

NIS Petrol – Growing Rural Romania

“Growing Rural Romania” is a program of creating common value in the communities where NIS Petrol carried out seismic prospecting and drilling exploration activities. The mechanism of the program is to invite representatives of local communities to submit projects of interest for the population in the area, from which the project with the highest social impact is chosen according to clear evaluation criteria such as: regional criterion, anticipation, efficiency , uniqueness, accessibility and transparency. The areas of interest included in the program are community development, environmental protection, education, culture and sport.

In the period 2014-2018, the total amount allocated to Romania for the program “Growing Rural Romania” was over 350,000 euros, in grants offered by the NIS for 25 local projects proposed by the communes where NIS Petrol carried out activities of seismic prospecting and drilled exploration wells.

OMV Petrom – Technology for the students from the Academy of Economic Studies

OMV Petrom supported the Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies (ASE) to modernize the “Grigore Moisil” amphitheater, so that around 1,000 students to benefit from the best study conditions. The amphitheater was equipped with video projection equipment, sound amplification, video recording and video conference, as well as a smart, energy-efficient lighting system, which can be programmed according to the specific activities of the room. The old furniture, which was installed with the inauguration of the building in 1969, was replaced by new one made with nanotechnology-based materials. They provide a high lifespan; have self-repair capabilities, anti-reflective and anti-bacterial properties. Each seat was also equipped with its own sockets. The value of the project amounted to 160,000 euros.

In addition to this, between 2017 and 2018, more than 800 students from two of ASE’s faculties benefited from SAP courses supported by OMV Petrom.
