We continue to present the 2022 nominations for the Energynomics Awards, with the “Outstanding development”. Nine projects were nominated. Only one of the projects below will be rewarded at the Gala on December 8, but each company and all the people involved in these projects deserve our respect and the widest promotion. We thank all the companies and personalities who got involved in this effort to draw the image of the Romanian energy industry in 2022 through its successes!

Complexul Energetic Oltenia – The approval of the restructuring aid

The Aid and Restructuring Plan of the Oltenia Energy Complex Company in the amount of 2.6 billion euros (67% of the restructuring cost) was approved by the European Commission on January 26, 2022. This allowed for the avoidance of CEO’s insolvency, further ensuring the adequacy of the national energy system.

After the approval of the Restructuring Plan, other funds could be attracted to cover 100% the need for the new projects.

 

DEER – Leordina Power Station

The construction of the 110/20kV Leordina power station to increase the power distribution capacity in the Valea Vișeului and Valea Izei area, Maramureș county” is financed by the “European Regional Development Fund through the Large Infrastructure Operational Program 2014-2020”. From the beginning of 2022, with the signing of the financing contract, the electrical station design team from the Electrica group, coordinated by Dan Mateaș, implements this project of major importance at the network level in the area.

 

EnergoBit Control Systems – Involvement in projects totaling over 10,000 MW of new capacities

Currently, the company EnergoBit Control Systems is actively involved in the development of new clean energy capacities and has ongoing energy projects amounting to over 10,000 MW of installed power, in various stages. There are massive investments in green, environmentally friendly, energy efficient technologies. The projects that EnergoBit Control Systems develops have innovative components, some of which are designed to deliver energy to the SEN, others to produce the energy needed to cover the own consumption of large, industrial units or even municipalities. From the project development phase, the company attaches maximum importance to the aspects related to the sustainable development of the areas where they are implemented, ensuring that they have no impact on biodiversity and that they comply with environmental protection legislation.

 

Hidroelectrica – Threefold increase in the number of household customers

Hidroelectrica managed a spectacular influx of household customers recorded in a short period of time, as a result of the market conditions imposed by the crisis and the decisions of the authorities. Since October, Hidroelectrica has made available to customers the Call Center Service, through which domestic and non-domestic consumers can receive information and assistance regarding the services contracted with Hidroelectrica, can transmit indexes related to electricity consumption and can find out details with on how they can become customers of the company.

 

Megaconstruct – The natural gas distribution network from Techirghiol

Megaconstruct put into operation the natural gas distribution network in Techirghiol, the most important investment of this type at the national level put into operation this year. With less than 11 million lei, the distribution operator built 37.8 kilometers of network, to which 90% of the city’s population and companies can connect.

Six years away from the approval of the feasibility study in the local council, the residents of Techirghiol finally have the option to connect to the natural gas distribution system made by the Megaconstruct company.

“Both in terms of value and length, it is the most important national investment put into operation this year”, stated Cătălin Ivan, the general director of Megaconstruct.

 

OMV Petrom – “Financial Transformation” Project

OMV Petrom’s “Financial Transformation” is the perfect example of outstanding and comprehensive development of the financial organization of the future, integrating people, culture, processes and technology as engines in our quest to achieve operational excellence.

More than 400 colleagues were retrained, more than 50 automation projects were implemented in one year. The level of employee engagement is above the international average and ranks in the first quartile, according to the Gartner efficiency benchmark. In 2022, five new technologies were piloted (eg machine learning, MIP, usage analytics, etc.) and new work methods were implemented (Agile Taskforce).

 

Simtel Team – CEF on the roof of the Fan Courier buildings

Simtel Team built in 2022 the photovoltaic power plant on the roof of the Fan Courier buildings in Ștefanești, Ilfov. The project means 6,700 Longi Solar photovoltaic panels, 23 100kW SMA inverters, 70 kilometers of photovoltaic cable and 500 meters of power cable.

The plant is designed to produce 3,250 MWh of green energy annually and eliminate 2,170 tons of CO2 per year from the atmosphere for a period of 25 years.

 

Transgaz – Gas transport pipeline DN 250 Câmpulung Moldovenesc – Vatra Dornei

The gas transport pipeline DN 250 Câmpulung Moldovenesc – Vatra Dornei represents a project with a particular impact on the development of the North-Eastern area of ​​the country, on energy and gas security and on the local communities who have been waiting for this project for a long time. By carrying out this project, Transgaz contribute to economic growth measures, and a series of social needs can be addressed, in a significant geographical area, including education (kindergartens, nurseries, educational units, university campuses that are not connected to gas), health (future regional hospitals, county, municipal and city hospitals, nursing homes and social centers), social protection and jobs. At the same time, the project has a direct impact on climate change issues and environmental protection, by significantly reducing logging in the northern part of the country, which represents more than two thirds of the national forest area.

 

Volt EVSE – 5.5 MW CEF for Robert Bosch industrial plant

Volt EVSE created a rooftop photovoltaic system, with a total power installed in the photovoltaic panels of 5.5 MWp, for an important player in the Automotive industry in Romania. The first phase, of 1.87 MWp, was put into operation in October 2021. In the second phase of execution, the total power installed in the photovoltaic panels was 3.675 MWp. The project consists of the phased installation of four photovoltaic systems distributed on the four roofs of the buildings inside the factory.

Over the entire lifetime of the park, the beneficiary will benefit from an energy saving of at least 120 GWh and a reduction in carbon emissions of over 4 million tons. Energy efficiency is a strategic aspect in this project, with a projected annual output of 6 GWh and a payback period of less than 5 years.
