WALDEVAR Energy plans to expand its workforce to 800 employees this year from the current 500 and is considering the construction of a floating solar panel factory in Romania, revealed Cristian Dragomir, Project Management Officer and Bidding Manager at the company.

The company has entered into a strategic partnership with the world’s largest floating manufacturer to establish a facility in Romania, aimed at meeting Europe’s demand for floating systems.

“I am confident that the installed capacity will increase in the next 3-5 years, but who will operate the new units and who will provide maintenance?” he stated, at the round table “Regional Approach Athens – Cooperation”, organized by Energynomics.

The company has already developed several ground-mounted photovoltaic parks in Romania, ranging from a few megawatts to several tens of megawatts in capacity.

With a construction capacity of 2 megawatts per day, the company installed 290 megawatts of solar panels last year. In Energynomics’ PV Monitor pf utility-scale projects, Waldevar is included with 6 delivered projects over 5 MW each, totalling 163 MW.

“Romania enjoys a very favorable position in terms of energy security and energy mix. You don’t see this variety in many countries. However, the infrastructure is old and needs reinforcement. Are floating solar panels a viable option? We need to assess,” added Dragomir.

The working table “Regional Approach Athens – Cooperation” was organized by Energynomics with the support of our partners: Elektra Renewable Support, Kawasaki Gas Turbine Europe GmbH, Parapet GmbH, TUV Nord, WALDEVAR Energy.
