Building renewable capacities as large as possible is the only realistic way to reduce the price of energy, by exerting pressure on the marginal market cost, said Cristian Dragomir, CEO of Waldevar Energy, at the Energy Strategy Summit 2026, organized by Energynomics.
The advice he offered is to focus less on the price of energy – “Do something for yourself”, said Dragomir, advocating for energy autonomy instead of dependence on market developments.
CEO Waldevar announced that the week before the conference the company had connected more than 100 MW to the grid. Capacities amounting to approximately 26 MW more are being energized and another 36 MW will follow in just two weeks.
The company is still on an upward trajectory, with a growing battery portfolio, and is positioning itself as an international player, including in the floating PV segment, where it has completed a project in France and has a project under development for Hidroelectrica.
Dragomir stated that the investment enthusiasm in renewables is partly fueled precisely by the high prices generated by the reporting mechanism to the natural gas quotation, combined with the dramatic decrease in equipment costs compared to 10-15 years ago
