The budget for 2021 is not one of austerity, but it does not satisfy everyone either, and although the ministers want as much money as possible from the budget, it is not possible, because we have to fall into deficit, said the Minister of Energy, Virgil Popescu. Regarding the budget of the Ministry of Energy, Virgil Popescu stated that it is around one billion lei, but many programs are made outside the state budget.

“When you had a budget deficit of 9 percent last year and you commit to reducing it and you have to reduce it and take it somewhere to 7%, it’s clear that there is no austerity budget, but it is not satisfying everyone, either. We must fit into these budget deficits, in this 7% percent. Obviously, all the ministers want for the ministry they lead as much money as possible from the budget. It is clear that we have to adjust from the expenses, from the structural expenses of the ministries and the companies that are inefficient must be restructured,” the minister explained, quoted by Agerpres.
At the same time, the minister stated that this year the procedure for listing the minority stake of 15% of Hidroelectrica shares, which was suspended in 2020, will be resumed.

“It was suspended last year and we want to continue and complete it, because Hidroelectrica is a major player in the electricity market, it needs capitalization for very large investments that must be made in the next period and the listing is a clear procedure. to attract money and serious investors in the company,” Popescu added.
