On December 4th, the energy community in Romania celebrated the results of the industry at the 7th edition of the Energynomics Awards! At the opening of the Gala, the Minister of Economy, Energy and Business Environment Virgil Popescu delivered a message to the over 150 industry leaders present at the ceremony.

“I want to assure you that I will do what I said, which is, that the Ministry of Economy will follow its targets. Our main priority in 2020 is to succeed in inaugurating new capacities for electricity production in Romania. It is imperatively necessary, and if we do not undertake this in Romania, we will continue to have great problems in the future.

According to the Prime Minister’s statements, we will take responsibility for changing Ordinance 114 in parliament in the next 2-3 weeks, so that by the end of the year, this Ordinance 114 will cease its disastrous effects on energy, although we will take responsibility for the entire ordinance. We will obviously have a transitional period, because we do not want to disturb the market, especially in the middle of winter. We anticipate the transition to natural gas and electricity and I want to assure all of you have support in the Ministry of Economy, Energy and Business Environment.

Energy is a strategic priority for me, for the Ministry and for the Government. We will make sure that this strategic priority is fulfilled.

We have good relations with ANRE, with the Presidency, with the Commission for Industries and Services in the Parliament, with the Parliament as a whole. As for large projects, I maintain that I will collaborate and try to obtain political consensus in Parliament, from all political forces.”
