Ukrainian company Naftogaz bought in the last two weeks cheaper gas in the EU than from Gazprom, says the development manager of this company, Yuriy Vitrenko, quoted by Interfax, writes Bursa.

The price level will determine the future permanent gas supplier of Ukraine, he argued. “The future payments to Gazprom depend on the evolution of consumption and weather, but also of the energy efficiency”, added the representative of Naftogaz.

Ukraine bought 2 billion cubic meters of gas from Gazprom in October to fill its deposits. The Ukranian company officials stated that the Russian gas price for the fourth quarter of this year is 227 dollars per thousand cubic meters.

Recently, Ukraine has signed with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for a loan of 300 million dollars for the purchase of gas needed to cover consumption this winter, and hopes for a loan of 500 million dollars from the World Bank, recalls Bursa.
