Transnistria could purchase gas from the European spot market with Russian help between January and April, according to sources cited by the publication “Kommersant”, writes the press from the Republic of Moldova.
The costs of these purchases are to be covered from the budget of the Russian Federation. The expected volume of purchases is up to 3 million cubic meters per day.
This quantity would be sufficient to cover the internal consumption of the Transnistrian region, but not to allow the export of electricity to the right bank of the Dniester.
The sources of “Kommersant” also claim that deliveries to the Transnistrian company “Tiraspoltransgaz” could be carried out not by “Moldovagaz”, which holds the monopoly on the supply of natural gas to the Republic of Moldova, but by the company “Natural Gaz D.C.”.
This information was also confirmed for the NewsMaker publication by Arcadie Vicol, co-owner of “Natural Gaz D.C.”. According to him, the company signed a framework contract with “Tiraspoltransgaz” for the supply of a daily volume of 2-3 million cubic meters of gas, according to bani.md.
Separatist leader Vadim Karsnoselski previously stated that following discussions at the Ministry of Energy in Moscow, in the coming period, gas deliveries to the left bank of the Dniester will be resumed in the form of humanitarian aid.
