Thermal rehabilitation of buildings can reduce the heating bill by as much as 40%, but building designers and licensing institutions do not put enough emphasis on these things, according to a study conducted by the Intelligent Energy Association.

“Proper insulation of the home leads to reductions in annual energy costs of up to 40% and ensuring optimal sanitation conditions for living inside this home. Along with the economy achieved, the reduction of CO2 emissions is considerable, thus contributing to environmental protection and most importantly, this investment in energy efficiency stops ‘throwing money out the window’, costs are recovered in 4.31 years and will subsequently produce income for the homeowner,” the association said, according to Agerpres.

They conducted a study on a house that is in terms of energy consumption above the level of the thermal energy house, with a consumption 58% higher than the energy consumption of an energy house and at a level of 46% higher than in the case of the hygienic-sanitary house.

Following the calculations, it is established that the largest losses are recorded through the plate over the unheated basement – of about 38% of the total. This is due to the large surface of this part of the building, totally uninsulated part. Another 25 percent is lost through exterior walls and 21% through windows.

“We can conclude: glazed surfaces are important ‘consumers’ of energy, losses through these types of elements increasing greatly with the surface; uninsulated beam is also an important ‘consumer’ of energy, even if its surface is small,” the study reads.
