The gas heating plant is the main source of heating in homes in Romania, almost 58% of the participants in a sociological study indicating that they use such equipment, while more than 16% are connected to centralized heating systems, and 15.6 % depend in the cold season on wood stoves. Less than 1% of respondents use heat pumps, which shows that the popularity of this heating source is still very much in its infancy.

In more than 26% of households, heating systems are between 5 and 10 years old, with a similar share of study participants stating that the heating devices in their homes are between 10 and 20 years old. Over 86% of gas-fired thermal power plants are installed in urban homes and only 13.6% in rural areas.

These are some of the conclusions of a sociological research carried out for the despre-energie.ro platform, a project supported by the companies Delgaz Grid and E.ON.

Hoping that in this way they will keep their bills under control, many Romanians decided, during the cold season, to reduce the operating time of the thermal plant, over 36% saying that they let it run between 2 and 5 hours a day, and almost 29%, between 6 and 9 hours a day. Only a little over 13% of those surveyed let the plant run for more than 15 hours a day.

On the other hand, almost 20% of Romanians admit that, in order to improve their thermal comfort in the household, they use additional heating systems, such as electric radiators (indicated by 41.7% of respondents) or air heaters (37.9% ).

The Despre-energie.ro platform, a project supported by the companies E.ON and Delgaz Grid, was launched in 2020 with the objective of becoming, for electricity and gas consumers, one of the main sources of information and, at the same time, to explain, in a clear and accessible language, the relevant and impactful developments in the energy market, but also to guide readers on their way through this complex universe, so that they can make correct decisions regarding everything related to energy and energy sources in their own households.

Energy efficiency tips and recommendations, the most important laws and regulations in the field, an extensive column in which our specialists answer questions from readers, guides on the choice and use of electrical equipment and household appliances, the most important news and novelties, but also rich explanatory multimedia content, are just some of the anchors of the about-energie.ro platform.

The platform was recently relaunched with a new logo and a redesigned, intuitive website, so as to improve the user experience, both on the desktop version and the one intended for mobile devices.
