E.ON Energie Romania criticises the unfair practices which mislead consumers and thus, are prejudicial to their interests, as it is shown in a press release.

The company claims that it “encourages competition as long as it is conducted in respect with the principles that ensure the correct functioning of the competitive market mechanisms”.

“The notion of competitive market means the existence of a rivalry upon the market, every company tries to offer the best combination of price, quality and related services, but all this must be compliant with the fair practices and the general principle of good faith specific to a fair competition”, say E.ON officials.

“At the moment, some companies in the market perform, through their sales agents, activities of contracting new customers and for convincing them to change their supplier. We were reported that there were several cases in which representatives of such companies are visiting the elderly people, presenting themselves as representing “the electrical company” and asking the client to sign new agreements, and pretending they represent E.ON,” they added.

The concept of “renewal of the supply contracts” is used for confusing customers who have already concluded agreements for the supply of electricity – according to the quoted source.

“We believe that through these practices, consumers are denied their fundamental rights regarding the correct, clear and complete information, so that they can take an informed decision, including the decision of changing their supplier”, say E.ON officials.
