Simtel announces the signing of the first two projects by Simtel Italia, the subsidiary opened by the Group in Milan in June 2026. The two projects have a cumulative value of approximately 15 million lei and a total installed capacity of over 15 MWp.
The projects are located in the Abruzzo and Emilia-Romagna regions and involve the provision of light EPC services for an independent renewable energy producer (Independent Power Producer – IPP), controlled by an American infrastructure investment fund. The works started in August 2026, and their completion is estimated by the end of the year.
Beyond the projects already contracted, Simtel Italia is participating in bidding procedures for photovoltaic projects with a cumulative capacity of approximately 300 MWp and for battery energy storage systems (BESS) totaling approximately 90 MWh. The current pipeline supports the company’s objective to contract projects with a total capacity of over 200 MWp by the end of 2026, to be implemented in stages over the following period.
“The first projects contracted by Simtel Italia confirm the premises that underpinned our decision to enter this market and reflect the Group’s ability to transform international expansion into concrete commercial activity. Italy offers us access to a market of significant size, with a high need for new production and storage capacities and with an investment framework favorable to long-term development. The pipeline built in a short period, the profile of the first client and the size of the projects under tender give us confidence in the subsidiary’s potential to make a relevant contribution to the Group’s revenues and profitability,” says Mihai Tudor, CEO of the Simtel Group.
Based on contracted projects and commercial opportunities in various stages of bidding, Simtel Italia management estimates revenues of approximately 40 million lei for 2026. For 2027, the company aims to significantly accelerate the activity and achieve revenues of up to approximately 250 million lei, maintaining the financial objectives set at the time of the subsidiary’s launch.
Simtel Italia’s development is based on an integrated operational model, which combines the presence and knowledge of the local market with the Group’s technical expertise and execution capacity. The team in Italy is currently mainly composed of project managers responsible for the coordination and monitoring of construction sites, while bidding, engineering and procurement activities benefit from the support of Simtel specialists in Romania. In the next 12 months, the company aims to expand the local team by recruiting professionals with experience in the energy sector and fully operationalizing the Milan office.
“The experience of the first months confirms that Italy represents one of the most important opportunities for renewable energy investments in Europe. The plan of the national transmission operator Terna foresees investments of approximately 23 billion euros by 2030 for the development and modernization of the electricity grid, and the definitive FER-X mechanism aims to support up to 37.15 GW of new renewable energy production capacities. These programs, together with the concrete interest we see for the projects under tender, indicate a significant acceleration of investments in photovoltaic capacities and storage systems in the coming years, including in the perspective of the period 2030–2034. For Simtel Italia, this evolution creates the premises for building a business of relevant dimensions and developing long-term relationships with investors active in the Italian market,” adds Guglielmo Martino, CEO of Simtel Italia.
In order to strengthen its local implementation capacity, Simtel Italia has entered into a partnership with Renova RED S.p.A., an Italian company specialized in civil infrastructure engineering and construction, within a Raggruppamento Temporaneo di Imprese (RTI) type of collaboration structure. The partnership supports Simtel Italia in managing local health and safety requirements at work, as well as in coordinating the logistics activities related to the projects. In the medium term, Simtel is also analyzing the possibility of developing an integrated technical and financial model in Italy, through special purpose vehicles and in partnership with investment funds. Such a model could bring together renewable energy production, storage capacities and energy supply with a constant delivery profile to large consumers, including operators of data centers dedicated to artificial intelligence (AI) applications. The initiative would extend the Group’s role beyond traditional EPC services and leverage its experience in developing and integrating energy solutions.
