Simtel announces the opening of a new subsidiary, Simtel Italia S.R.L., in Milan, Italy. The new entity represents a new step in the Group’s international expansion strategy and extends Simtel’s presence in one of the most dynamic European markets in the field of renewable energy.
The decision to enter the Italian market is based on the accelerated pace of development of the renewable energy sector and the significant opportunities generated by public policies supporting investments in this field. In 2025 alone, over 6 GW of new photovoltaic capacities were put into operation in Italy, thus reaching 45 GW of national installed capacity, and the Italian government continues to stimulate investments through dedicated mechanisms, including Contracts for Difference (CfD) schemes, GSE auctions, in the application of the tariffs of the FER-X Decree, which offers investors predictability and long-term stability.
The Italian government’s stated medium-term plan is to reach the “photovoltaic” target of 80 GW by the end of 2030. The growth of the renewable energy sector, in particular photovoltaics and BESS systems, is guaranteed and visibly supported by the Italian government, thanks to the construction and renovation of the 380 kV electricity grid by the transmission operator TERNA S.p.A. (investment of 23 billion euros by 2030). Through the new subsidiary, Simtel aims to meet the growing demand for specialized services dedicated to investments in photovoltaic plants and energy storage systems.

Simtel Italia’s headquarters are located in Milan, one of the most important economic and financial centers of Europe, a location that offers direct access to the main investors and project developers in the energy sector. The subsidiary will be led by Guglielmo Martino, an Italian manager with extensive experience in the energy industry, who, throughout his career, held general manager positions in several divisions of Enel Romania and also had significant experience within EDP Engineering in Latin America.

In the first phase, Simtel Italia will provide EPC services for photovoltaic projects and energy storage systems (BESS), as well as operation and maintenance (O&M) services. The company targets investors in the renewable energy sector, including Independent Power Producers (IPPs), utilities and industrial customers developing their own energy production and storage projects.
The operations in Italy will be developed through an integrated model, in which the local team will collaborate closely with Simtel specialists in Romania. This approach allows the transfer of technical expertise accumulated within the projects implemented by the group, while maintaining proximity to local customers and the ability to quickly respond to the specific requirements of the Italian market.
By the end of this year, Simtel Italia estimates contracting projects with a capacity of over 200 MWp, to be implemented during the years 2026-2027. Some of these projects are already signed, or in the final stages of negotiating the contractual terms. Simtel believes that one of its main competitive advantages on the Italian market is the experience accumulated in implementing complex projects at an accelerated pace, the high quality standards and the operational efficiency acquired in Romania, which allow the company to offer competitive solutions both technically and economically.
The opening of the Italian subsidiary represents the Group’s fourth international expansion, following the launch of operations in the Republic of Moldova in 2022, and Germany and Sweden in 2025. The three subsidiaries will collaborate within a common operational model, leveraging technical expertise and relationships developed with international clients present simultaneously in Romania, Germany, Sweden and Italy. This approach allows the Group to serve multinational companies more efficiently and to consolidate its position as a European partner for renewable energy projects and integrated energy efficiency solutions.
