The National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) is the new Marshall Plan, this time not of the Americans to Europe, but of Europe to Europe, and we have a duty not to miss it, said Sergiu Oprescu, executive president of Alpha Bank Romania and director General of the Alpha Bank International Network.

“The PNRR is the new Marshall Plan, this time not of the Americans to Europe, as in ’48 -’52, but of Europe to Europe – and it is a Marshall Plan that we have a duty not to miss. It is a great opportunity that can be manifested exactly as the Marshall Plan manifested itself, as an opportunity for the European countries that, at that time, had to recover after the war. Today, the PNRR is the new Marshall Plan that can enable us, on the one hand, to face the adversities of this crisis, on the other hand, to reposition ourselves economically in the next period. I would like Romania to be one of the winners of this Marshall Plan, the PNRR,” added Sergiu Oprescu, quoted by Agerpres.

At the same time, he stressed the need for caution in the banking system and especially at customers’ level.

“I think we have an obligation of prudence at the level of the banking system and, especially, at the level of customers. Prudence must come in several forms. We must try to figure out what impact it can have on our cash flow, if we refer to the customer’s perspective – high interest rates. What impact can a lending on our segment have from our point of view where we can see at some point that it can be impacted by high costs, energy costs. We must have this high level of caution in our minds as we look at normal economic activity,” Sergiu Oprescu also said.
