Romgaz has launched a tender to contract site management services for the completion and commissioning works of the long-delayed new 430 MW gas-fired power plant in Iernut, which should have been ready as early as 2020 and for which the latest start-up deadline is December 31, 2026, Profit.ro writes.

The total value of the contract put out to tender is almost 20 million lei plus VAT, with the deadline for submitting bids being March 10, 2026. Subsequently, Romgaz hopes to finish evaluating the bids by May 19.

The Iernut gas-fired power plant, a 269 million euro investment by Romgaz with a capacity of 430 MW, must be completed and put into operation by December 31, 2026 at the latest.

The project, which began almost a decade ago, is approximately 98% complete.

At the end of last year, the Government adopted a Decision (no. 1,164 of December 30, 2025), by which several important deadlines in the National Investment Plan were extended. Thus, the investments financed on a non-reimbursable basis can be completed by December 31, 2026, with the related expenses to be reimbursed by June 30, 2027.
