In 2022, Romgaz obtained a net profit of 2.544 billion lei, up 32.87% compared to the previous year, according to the preliminary financial data submitted to the Bucharest Stock Exchange on Tuesday.

“The achieved margins of consolidated net profit (19.02%), consolidated EBIT (profit before interest and tax – n.r.) (22.23%) and EBITDA (profit before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) of 26.34% are down compared to the levels recorded in 2021 (32.72%; 35.86% and 47.58%, respectively) mainly as a result of overtaxing the Group’s business segments,” the report states.

The estimated natural gas production for 2022 was of 4.936 billion cubic meters, 92.6 million cubic meters less than the production achieved in the previous year (-1.84%), according to Agerpres.

The preliminary turnover for 2022 increased by 128.61%, to 13.38 billion lei. The estimated turnover from the sale of natural gas is 11.33 billion lei, up 124.61% compared to the previous year (the amount of natural gas sold was 4.54% lower than in 2021).

In the storage activity, the turnover increased by 80.51% at the Group level, as a result of the 60.18% increase in reservation services (+115.06 million lei), by 249.53% (+84 .36 million lei) of injection services and by 28.29% (+9.90 million) of extraction services. At the Depogaz level, the increase in turnover from these services is 51.85%.

The turnover from the sale of electricity increased by 313.75% compared to the previous year (+1.01 billion lei) at a production that increased by 73.52% compared to the previous year.

“This level of turnover is due to the high prices charged on the centralized markets on which the Group operates. However, the activity of production and sale of electricity recorded a loss of 49.95 million lei caused by the overtaxation of the income obtained from this segment of activity”, the report emphasizes.
