A research institute in Romania has created a prototype car whose engine is powered by hydrogen, as well as a series of drones using the same fuel, said Andrei Alexandru, Secretary of State in the Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digitisation, at the conference “Hydrogen Project – what is Romania up to”, organised by Energynomics. In order to be used, road legislation needs to be amended.

Alexander added that the ministry has launched a competition for the creation of centres of excellence to provide solutions to “key societal challenges”.

The institution plans to fund 20 such centres of excellence in areas as diverse as digitisation, industry, energy, climate, mobility, bio-resources, health, environment, agriculture or civil security.

The project has a total budget of 1.6 billion lei. Each centre will receive funding of between 50 and 100 million lei.

The conference “Hydrogen Project – what is Romania up to” was organized by Energynomics with the support of our partners Elektra Renewable Support and Horváth.

On this occasion, the Didactic and Pedagogical Publishing House presented the book “Discussions the Hydrogen Energy Vector”, authored by Ioan Iordache, Dumitru Chisăliță, Hans Marius Shuster, Cristian Călin, and Oana Dumitrean, as part of the collection “Academica energie.”
