Romania imports 17% of gas consumption

Romania imported these days about 17% of natural gas consumption, according to Transgaz data.

For the production of electricity, for the consumption of the industry (fertilizers, glass, steel, etc.), but also for the production of hot water and heat for the population, Romania consumes about 23-24 million cubic meters of gas per day, according to focus-energetic.ro.

The production capacity (made for the most part in roughly equal proportions by the two big domestic producers, Romgaz and OMV Petrom) is about 28 million cubic meters/ day.

Although domestic consumption is virtually covered by domestic production, these days gas imports are very important: 3-4 million cubic meters per day, or about 17% of consumption.
