Romania has received 16 mln. euro in Kyoto certificates this July

State took over 15.8 million euros in July, after marketing at the auction platform of the European Union (EU) the certificates of emissions of greenhouse gases associated to stationary installations and the aviation sector, according to the Kyoto Protocol, states a release published on the website of the Ministry of Public Finance (MFP).

Thus, in July there were sold over 3.3 million certificates related to stationary installations, worth about 15.7 million euros. Regarding the related certificates in the aviation sector, 14,000 were sold, totaling 62.860 euros.

In January, the Finance Ministry received over 16.5 million euros for such certificates, while in February, about 18.7 million euros, in March – 17.9 million, in April – 18.8 million euros, in May – 14.9 million euros, and in June – 20.4 million euros.

Romania participates to the European Union emissions trading scheme for greenhouse gas from its accession to the European Union (1 January 2007).

The third phase of the EU ETS has a duration of eight years, between January 1, 2013 – December 31, 2020.
