On 17 May, the RESInvest 2022 Conference will address the opportunity of a new economic branch in Romania, namely the production of equipment and components for wind and solar farms. The conference is an initiative of RWEA (Romanian Wind Energy Association) and RPIA (Romanian Photovoltaic Energy Association) and benefits from visibility and support at the European level through WindEurope and SolarPower Europe.

Invitations are expected in-person at the Face Convention Center in Bucharest (limited places) as well as online.

The transition to a decarbonised economy and the Romanian Government’s targets – a doubling of installed renewable energy capacity by 2030 – has put a new possibility for developing the local economy on the table. While EU member states are working towards meeting their targets, large turbine manufacturers are struggling to keep up with European demand, leading to long delivery times and higher costs, reflected in the final price of energy.

The need for equipment and components for wind and solar farms is, therefore, greater than ever, and Romania can become a relevant player in this sector. We already produce generators and electrical control systems for turbines, bearings, forgings and have created the largest centre for renewable energy technicians in South-East Europe in Constanta, a success that can be replicated in other areas of the industry. This is a huge opportunity to develop a competitive branch of the economy and become a regional pioneer in a sector that will continue to grow in the coming years.

The RESInvest conference will discuss concrete ways to stimulate the development of manufacturing capabilities in Romania, including components, equipment, software and related services. The event will bring together representatives of the Romanian Presidency, the European Commission and national public authorities, together with investors and equipment manufacturers.

The event is also regional, with participation from industry and ministers from Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia, Greece and Portugal.
