Requests for approvals for the construction of energy production units from renewable sources in the Republic of Moldova increased by 300% in the first eight months of this year, said Eduard Pulbere, head of the Grid Development Service in the RED Nord company.

“In the first eight months, the number of requests and connection approvals granted is 300% higher. So is the installed power,” said Pulbere, during the “Regional Approach – Chisinau” conference, organized by Energynomics.

In 2020, the Chisinau authorities issued 126 connection permits for the production of electricity from renewable sources, of which 118 in solar plants and eight in wind installations.

Last year, the number of approvals increased to 172 (of which 154 only in photovoltaics), while in the first eight months of 2022 their number will reach 556 approvals, most of them targeting solar installations.

From the perspective of installed capacity, in 2020, photovoltaic capacities amounted to 45.5 MW, and wind capacities to 22.5 MW.

In the January-August 2022 interval, the approvals for solar power plants concerned a total power of 71 MW, respectively 17.5 MW for wind turbines.

At the same time, since last year, the authorities have received requests to connect some green energy production units to the grid and from domestic consumers. If in 2021 their number was 50, in the first eight months of the current year they reached 299.

At the moment, the installed capacity in solar power plants is around 3 MW, while the installed power in wind turbines amounts to 38 MW.
