The installed power of the energy producers from renewable sources totaled 4.710 MW at the end of November 2016, according to centralized data by Transelectrica, reflecting a decrease of 8.4% compared to December 2015.

Thus, in the system there were wind farms with an output of 2.963 MW, photovoltaic plants with a total capacity of 1.323 MW, small hydropower plants (320 MW) and projects based on biomass with a cumulative power of 104 MW, according to Agerpres and Bursa.

At the end of 2015, there were production capacities of renewable energy of 5.142 MW, in the system.

The renewable energy producers receive free green certificates, which they sell on a specialized market to gain an extra income given the energy itself. These green certificates are paid by all consumers in Romania, households included.

Only the projects that have been comissioned into service until December 31st 2016 will benefit from this support scheme.
