Radisson Blu Hotel in Bucharest announces that, starting with January 2022, the new electricity contract will provide 100% energy from renewable sources. Through this initiative, the hotel also announces the extension of the Green Key certification, obtained 9 years ago.

“Green Key certification is an important international recognition for companies that participate intensely in tourism development by carrying out activities with minimal negative impact on the environment, considered sustainable businesses. The Green Key Certificate is based on the commitment of organizations to respect in their activity strictly established criteria of environmental management (water, energy, waste, cleaning) and sustainability education (staff, guests, suppliers). Green Key is supported by the World Tourism Organization and is recognized by the Global Council for Sustainable Tourism. Through this certification, the organization promises guests that by choosing them as hosts, it contributes to the long-term well-being of the environment,” say Radisson officials.

“For us, maintaining Green Key certification and implementing measures that significantly reduce the negative impact on the environment is still a priority. We always put guests first and we want every visit to our locations to be a memorable one. It is important, however, that hosting our customers also has a positive effect on the environment. Therefore, we are pleased that we have managed to achieve our goal of meeting our 100% renewable electricity needs without affecting the comfort of our customers,” said Sonja Dive-Dahl, CEO of Radisson Blu & Park Inn by Radisson Hotel & Residence Bucharest.

Radisson Hotel Group has focused its strategies on developing sustainable solutions, including the Carbon Negative, Planet Positive initiative, which strengthens the group’s offer to hold meetings with 100% carbon-neutral impact. The initiative is part of the group’s comprehensive program, Responsible Business, which aims to reduce the group’s carbon footprint by 30% and set goals based on the findings of the scientific community.
