Ministry of Energy will come to the Government, in the near future, with an Emergency Ordinance to unblock the investment from the Iernut power plant, announced on Wednesday, on Facebook, the relevant minister, Virgil Popescu.

“I will come to the Government in the near future with a draft Emergency Ordinance to unblock the investment situation in Iernut! Yes, we have come up with solutions and we will do so in the future! We take care of the citizens, but at the same time we continue investments, because this is the only way we will be able to ensure Romania’s energy security!” he wrote.

The minister also referred to the Mintia power plant, where a new gas-fired power plant is also yet to be built, according to Agerpres.

“I am dismantling a fake news, fueled by malicious people! I also explained to my colleagues, PSD and PNL parliamentarians from Hunedoara, that the Mintia Thermal Power Plant will not be sold for scrap metal! I asked the judicial administrator in the sale and selection procedure of an investor to request that he offer firm guarantees that a new capacity to produce electricity, on natural gas, of at least 800 MW will be built on the Mintia site,” Popescu said.

He also said that he fully supports the legislative initiative by which Hidroelectrica’s investments started, but not completed due to environmental blockages, can be continued.
