From June 15 to September 15, 2026, ProCredit Bank is running a campaign to raise awareness of its CO₂ Emissions Calculator for Businesses, a free online tool designed for companies that want to better understand their environmental impact and take concrete first steps toward reducing emissions.

Launched in Romania in April 2026, ProCredit Bank’s CO₂ Emissions Calculator is aimed primarily at micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises, offering them an accessible solution for estimating their carbon footprint and identifying areas where energy efficiency measures, operational optimization, or investments in renewable energy can be implemented.

The initiative comes at a time when requirements related to sustainability, ESG reporting, and emissions reduction are becoming increasingly relevant not only for large companies but also for their suppliers, partners, and customers. For many SMEs, however, the first obstacle in the decarbonization process remains a lack of data. Without a clear picture of emission sources, decisions regarding green investments, consumption reduction, or process reorganization remain difficult to justify.

The calculator developed by ProCredit Bank is designed to address precisely this need. The tool allows companies to enter relevant data about their operations online, based on the sector in which they operate, and to obtain a structured report on their emissions. According to information published by the bank, the calculator helps companies identify where the greatest impact lies, gain a centralized view of the current situation, identify opportunities for improvement, and make more informed decisions regarding sustainable development priorities.

The tool is available online and free of charge, and its use is designed to be a simple process: the company accesses the platform, enters relevant data about its operations, and receives a result that can serve as the basis for the next steps toward improving efficiency and reducing climate impact.

The calculator covers several sectors, including commercial activities, transportation, healthcare, IT services, agriculture, livestock farming, the food industry, wood processing, metal processing, and other sectors. According to information provided by ProCredit Bank, the tool is based on the Greenhouse Gas Protocol methodology and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change guidelines to ensure a rigorous approach to emissions estimation.

The importance of such a tool is amplified by the role of SMEs in the economy. They account for over 90% of all businesses worldwide and employ more than half of the global workforce. Therefore, their contribution to the transition toward low-emission business models is essential, from both an economic and a climate perspective.

For companies, measuring emissions can also have immediate practical value. A better understanding of consumption patterns and high-impact processes can lead to cost reductions, improved relationships with partners who request ESG information, and clearer planning for investments in energy efficiency, renewable sources, or less carbon-intensive technologies. ProCredit Bank emphasizes that the tool can help companies respond more quickly to ESG requirements, identify high-impact areas, and uncover opportunities for optimization.

The campaign, running from June 15 to September 15, 2026, aims to increase awareness of the CO₂ Emissions Calculator among companies interested in sustainability and reducing their environmental impact. Through this initiative, ProCredit Bank is strengthening its position in the area of green financing and support for the business community in the transition to more efficient and climate-responsible operational models.

The CO₂ Emissions Calculator for companies can be accessed on ProCredit Bank’s dedicated page, where a Net Zero Guide is also available with additional information on reducing emissions and the steps that can support the development of a more sustainable business model.
