President Klaus Iohannis promulgated the law for the approval of the Government’s Emergency Ordinance 166/2022 regarding some measures to provide support to categories of vulnerable people for the compensation of the energy price, partially supported by non-reimbursable external funds, the Presidential Administration reports.

The normative act has as its regulatory object the approval of the Government Emergency Ordinance 166/2022 by which a series of measures were adopted to provide the necessary support to the vulnerable population for the compensation of the price of energy, regardless of its nature, respectively electricity, thermal energy centralizes, gas, firewood, fuel oil, pellets and other materials for heating.

The financing of these measures will be ensured from non-reimbursable external funds. People whose monthly income is up to 2,000 lei will benefit from this support.

Thus, for a total of monthly expenses in the amount of 746.42 lei/month, related to the energy consumption for a home, a support is granted to the population in the nominal amount of 1,400 lei, which can be used until December 31, 2023 and is granted per place of consumption/household, in two equal installments of 700 lei each, which are granted in February 2023 for the period January 1, 2023 – June 30, 2023, respectively in September 2023 for the period July 1, 2023 – December 31, 2023.

The support is granted in the form of an energy card, printed and distributed by the National Company “Pošta Română” SA. The energy card gives the beneficiary the right to make payments through the postal order service provided by CN Poşta Română SA, for the settlement of current and/or outstanding debts he has to energy suppliers.
