Greek company PPC plans to reach an installed capacity of 2 GW in renewable energy generation units by the end of next year, said Adrian Dugulan, General Manager, PPC Renewables Romania, at the “Energy Transition – Bucharest 2025” conference organized by Energynomics.
“In terms of growth, in addition to the acquisitions we have made, we have various projects under construction, as well as partnerships and a fairly significant pipeline, with which we hope to reach 2 GW installed by the end of 2026,” said Dugulan.
Through these projects, the company aims to balance its portfolio in the electricity generation sector, which is currently dominated by wind energy.
Thus, PPC has significant investments planned in photovoltaics and battery energy storage.
The company currently operates an installed capacity of over 1,330 MW from wind, photovoltaic, and hydroelectric power plants: 1,183 MW from wind, 125.99 MW from photovoltaic, and 22.351 MW from hydroelectric.
PPC Renewables Romania was established after Public Power Corporation (PPC) acquired the assets of Enel Green Power Romania (founded in 2007) in October 2023. With a 15-year presence in the local renewable energy market, the company exploits wind, solar, and hydraulic energy through 12 wind farms, seven photovoltaic plants, and five hydroelectric plants.
