PPC has recorded a significant improvement in its environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance, according to the latest assessment carried out by the international organization Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS). The company’s overall performance score increased to 47.04, compared to 41.29 in 2024, which led to an improvement in the rating from “C” to “C+”, strengthening PPC’s position in the international ISS index on sustainability and corporate responsibility.

This improvement reflects PPC’s consistent strategy in terms of sustainable development and demonstrates the progress made at the Group level in terms of environmental, social and governance criteria.

PPC Group continues to improve its corporate performance by focusing, among other things, on reducing the CO₂ intensity of energy generation, developing green technologies and creating shared value for society and the environment. At the same time, the Group integrates responsible social and environmental practices into all its operations, with a focus on managing natural resources, protecting biodiversity and supporting local communities – steadily advancing its transition towards a sustainable energy future.

ISS, one of the world’s leading sustainability research and ratings agencies, assesses companies’ ESG data and the effectiveness with which they identify and manage environmental, social and governance risks and opportunities within their industries. As the responsible investment arm of Institutional Shareholder Services Inc., ISS ESG has over 25 years of expertise in ESG analysis, assessing over 8,000 companies and serving over 1,100 institutional investors worldwide. Sustainable growth with significant ESG progress

PPC Group continues its efforts to achieve climate neutrality, the company’s goal for 2040. Given the need for a low-carbon economy, PPC made remarkable progress in 2024, reducing the share of coal-based energy to just 15% of its energy mix and increasing the contribution of renewable sources to 29%.

Continuous investments in innovative technologies – such as e-mobility, energy storage and grid modernization – further strengthen the Group’s strategy for the transition to a more sustainable and flexible energy system.

Of particular importance is PPC Group’s commitment to complete the phase-out of coal by 2026, together with the planned reduction of oil-based energy production. These measures are estimated to lead to an 80% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from electricity production between 2019 and 2027.

At the same time, PPC is laying a solid foundation for continued expansion in Greece and South-Eastern Europe, contributing to shaping the energy and digital future of the region, while maintaining its role as an important social partner in all the markets in which it operates.

The PPC Group aims to generate shared value for all stakeholders, contributing in a concrete and significant way to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
