PPC Energie launches a pilot project in Romania for the first time through which customers receive active electricity at zero cost, during certain time slots during the day, in order to benefit from photovoltaic energy production at the times when it is produced.
Participation in the Zero Active Electricity pilot program is available for the first 5,000 eligible customers during the period 7-20 May 2026, and the benefits will be granted during the period June-September 2026. In total, a customer will be able to benefit from approximately 70 hours of free active electricity in each of the 4 months.
“The Zero Active Electricity pilot program aims to convey to PPC Energie customers the benefits of photovoltaic energy production and the digitalization of the energy infrastructure. Thus, the savings made by customers will be even greater, as they will be able to use more electricity during zero-cost hours,” said Ionuț Dună, General Manager of PPC Energie.
The program is dedicated to customers who have installed a smart meter integrated into the smart metering system at the point of consumption. The hours in which customers will benefit from active electricity at a cost of 0 lei/kWh will be communicated to them by email and by notification in the myPPC application, at least 12 hours in advance.
The electricity supply contract will not change, the contractual price and the supply conditions will not change. In this phase of the pilot program, customers who meet the eligibility criteria will receive an invitation to participate from PPC Energie, via their contact email address, as well as through notifications in the myPPC application.
Thus, customers will be able to reduce their electricity bill by scheduling the consumption of various household appliances or by charging their electric car during those time slots. The reduction will be granted on the current monthly bill, in the form of a commercial bonus related to consumption during the free intervals and will be automatically calculated based on the index readings received by the supplier from the distribution operator in the respective area.
