Popescu: EIB has transferred 1.4 bln. euro to finance strategic projects in the energy sector

On Wednesday, the European Investment Bank (EIB) transferred approximately 1.4 billion euros from the Modernization Fund to finance strategic projects in the Romanian energy sector, Energy Minister Virgil Popescu announced.

“Good news! Today the EIB transferred approximately 1.4 billion euros from the Modernization Fund to finance strategic projects in the Romanian energy sector! These are: 8 projects submitted by the CEO for the production of energy from renewable sources, in total value of 670,802,780 euros, of which 469,561,946 euros from the Modernization Fund. At the end we will talk about the production of 735 MW,” the minister wrote on his Facebook page.

Thus, photovoltaic parks will be built on the Bohorelu – UMC Jilt dump, on the outer Pinoasa quarry – UMC Pinoasa quarry, on the Rovinari Est dump, on the closed ash and slag deposits from SE Isalniţa, SE Rovinari and SE Turceni, on the inner dump within of the Tismana 1 – Roşia-Rovinari quarry and on the inner dump within the Tismana 2 – Roşia – Rovinari quarry, according to Agerpres.

The Minister also referred to “2 other CCGT projects for the CEO, namely Isalniţa in a total amount of 506,250,603 euros, of which 253,125,302 euros from the Modernization Fund, and Turceni, in a total amount of 335,009,630 euros, of which 167,504,815 euros from the Modernization Fund “. We are talking about a total capacity of 1200 MW,” Popescu added.

The Minister of Energy also mentioned the projects submitted by Transelectrica, amounting to a total of 475,510,339 euros.
