Bucharest City Hall will invest in a new digital map of all utility networks located in the city underground, Mayor Nicușor Dan announced in a post on the official social media page.

“We want to create a digital map of all utility networks located in the city underground, whether it is heating pipes, electrical networks, telecommunications, gas, water-sewer. The use of such a program will lead to the reduction of the execution time of the investment works and implicitly to the reduction of costs,” says Nicușor Dan.

“Furthermore, all the documents or maps that include such networks are extremely old, they are over 30 years old and no longer correspond to what actually exists in reality, in the field. A lot has been built, without proper systematization, and all these changes do not appear in the records of the local authorities. For this, today we had a working meeting with the specialized departments of the Capital City Hall as well as with the representatives of a company that offers such services and who explained to us the steps of such an approach”, adds the Capital City Mayor.

“We will take all the necessary steps to contract services for mapping public utility systems and digitalizing databases.”

The official also said that the development by the local administration of a database of networks is an obligation stipulated in Law 51/2006 – of community services of public utilities.

“That’s why we intend to collaborate with the sector town halls to collect all the information they have and in the end, developers or profile companies which want to open a construction site no longer have to obtain approvals from all public service providers but to address the Capital City Hall which can issue, using this program, a single notice.”
