Romania has very old equipment that needs to be replaced, and the network must be ready for digitalization, says Marius Perșinaru, country president of Schneider Electric Romania & Republic of Moldova. Total energy consumption is increasing, and investments need to be growing to meet the energy demand and efficiency needs of current units, he says.

”Think about how much of the consumption based on traditional energy sources is moving towards the electricity area. This does not depend solely on the will of Romania, an example being the electric mobility. Our grid is not ready to take, for example, a fast-charging system from Tesla,” he said. “The problem in Romania is that it needs infrastructure, which needs massive investments.”

Schneider Electric presented at Innovation Day Bucharest some of its EcoStruxure efficiency solutions. They support the digital transformation process of a large number of top companies from different fields. “We see digital transformation every day, and Romania is following the European trend and more and more investments are being made in digitalization and efficiency,” says Perşinaru.

“Our solutions bring digital transformation in production spaces, in commercial buildings, in electricity distribution networks, in data centers – wherever there is efficiency and the experience of the projects carried out globally during the last 5 years shows us that the realized savings as a result of this process lead to average reductions in electricity consumption of 24%, with peaks reaching up to 85% among large energy consumers. These figures are the best answer to the question of whether it is worthwhile for a company to go through a digital transformation process. The new economy is a digital one, and a company has no chance of long-term development if it does not take part in this process.”

Other benefits resulting from the synthesis of data from the projects implemented by Schneider Electric are an average reduction of 35% of the capital expenditures and the optimization of the employees time, as well as a higher productivity up to 50%, in the field of industrial applications.
