OX2 Romania, part of the Swedish OX2 group, recently acquired three wind projects with a total capacity of 235 MW, located in Vaslui and Vrancea counties, from Future Power. The transaction increases OX2’s local portfolio to over 1.1 GW and strengthens OX2’s position on the local market, where it has under construction a third of the total capacity of around 600 MW of wind projects currently under development in Romania.

“The transaction with Future Power is a new step in OX2’s development strategy on the local market. In just 4 years of activity in Romania, we have grown steadily, organically and through acquisitions, replicating the way of working that confirmed OX2’s global value and which means managing the entire project life cycle – from land acquisition to the authorization process, development, financing, PPA contracts, construction and operation. We continue to grow by developing solid, bankable projects, with concrete completion deadlines and which will bring new investors to Romania”, said Lăcrămioara Diaconu-Pințea, Vice President and Country Manager of OX2 Romania.

The three projects acquired from Future Power are expected to be put into operation between 2028 – 2030, depending on the duration of the authorization processes. OX2 also owns other greenfield wind projects in the region, which, like those in the counties of Constanța, Brăila, Galați, benefit from a good wind resource.

“As the developer of these projects, I am proud to transfer them to a partner capable of transforming clean energy concepts into operational assets, such as OX2. These wind projects will play an important role in strengthening the renewable energy ecosystem in Romania, supporting local communities and contributing to economic growth and long-term sustainability,” said Cristian Barbu, Founder and CEO of Future Power.

Currently, OX2’s development and construction portfolio in Romania includes 9 onshore wind projects: 195 MW under construction – which means a third of the total capacity under construction in Romania; 766 MW of onshore wind power under development and 150 MW of photovoltaic and BESS power under development.

In 2024 and 2025, OX2 Romania signed transactions with major global investors, namely Nala Renewables (Green Breeze project, 99 MW) and HELLENiQ Renewables (Ansthall project, 96 MW).
