The OMV Petrom stations whose activity was temporarily stopped following the controls of the National Authority for Consumer Protection will be reopened immediately after meeting all the conditions requested by ANPC, three of which have been reopened so far, state the company’s representatives.

“At the beginning of this week, ANPC launched controls in our network of stations in Romania, with over 200 controls in a single day. These mainly concerned the products sold in the stores in the stations, the condition of the furniture, cleanliness, etc. Following the controls , a series of deficiencies were highlighted such as: ice in the refrigerators, dust on some shelves, the presence of sugar crystals in the honey, the incorrect label on the sugar box, etc. Although the checks mainly targeted the shop area, ANPC decided to temporarily stop all activity in 11 distribution stations. The stations will be reopened immediately after meeting all the conditions requested by the ANPC. Currently, 3 of them have been reopened,” the quoted source stressed.

Regarding the pumps, the representatives of OMV Petrom mentioned that they are periodically checked and approved by the state authority with attributions in the metrological verification and authorization of fuel pumps, namely the Romanian Bureau of Legal Metrology (BRML).

“Until this moment, no deviations have been identified above the norm imposed by the specific legislation,” officials pointed out.

On Monday, the National Authority for Consumer Protection started an extensive control action, at the level of the entire country, aimed at the way in which the legislation in force is respected in the fuel stations of the OMV-Petrom network, and following the checks, it ordered the temporary closure of 11 stations.

For one station, the closure proposal covers a period of six months.

According to a press release from the authority, until now ANPC commissioners have checked 197 stations, the action being ongoing at most of them.

For the irregularities found so far, contraventional fines in the amount of over 340,000 lei and 5 warnings have been applied. Also, the commissioners established the definitive stop from the sale of products worth over 30,000 lei, the temporary stop of the provision of services, until the deficiencies are remedied, for 11 stations and made a proposal to close a fuel station for a period of up to 6 months.
