Executive Director of the Future Energy Leaders (FEL) Romania network and Technical Project Manager at Nano Energies Romania, Olivian Savin was selected in the prestigious Global FEL-100 programme of the World Energy Council, and, in parallel, appointed Young Energy Ambassador 2025 by the European Commission.
The selection in the FEL-100 network, made up of 100 young professionals from all over the world, confirms both Olivian Savin’s professional career and the growing contribution of young Romanians to the transformations in the international energy sector. Out of more than 200 candidates from 54 countries, only 25 were added to the network this year, who will work together over a three-year term to identify and promote innovative solutions to global energy challenges, in line with the World Energy Council’s vision of “humanising energy”.
The European Commission has also announced Savin’s selection as a Young Energy Ambassador in a programme aimed at training a new generation of communicators and promoters of the clean energy transition. Out of more than 1,300 applications from across Europe, only 30 young people were selected to contribute to year-long public information initiatives, local actions and consultative processes on energy policy. Olivian Savin is the only Romanian representative in this network, which gives added visibility to the technical and leadership skills developed in the Romanian context.
“I am honoured to be part of these two international leadership networks and to contribute to the discussions and projects that will shape the future of energy systems,” said Savin. “This is an opportunity to learn, collaborate and influence change alongside passionate people from around the world.”
His professional background is relevant for understanding a generation that comes with international experience and a clear commitment to sustainability. Olivian Savin is a PhD in energy engineering, head of the graduating class of the Faculty of Energetics at the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, specialising in hydropower. He followed an international master’s programme in France, at Grenoble INP, and completed an industrial PhD thesis at EDF – one of the world’s largest energy companies. After completing his graduate studies in three international languages, he returned to Romania and is active in the area of independent regulation and aggregation, an emerging field in the context of decentralised energy markets.
Currently, he coordinates the technical activity of Nano Energies Romania, one of the first licensed companies in the field of independent aggregation. He also took over FEL Romania as Executive Director in 2025, where he manages the organisation’s strategy and leads a team of more than 35 young professionals from major energy companies active in Romania.
