Nextpower, a provider of technologies and solutions for the solar energy sector, announced the signing of a definitive agreement for the acquisition of Zimmermann PV-Steel Group, a German provider of solar technologies with over 20 GW installed and a strong market presence in Germany, one of the largest solar markets in Europe.
Founded in 1950, Zimmermann expanded its activity in the solar industry in 2009, contributing to the completion of over 2,500 photovoltaic projects in 58 countries. By expanding its product portfolio and strengthening its regional presence, the acquisition will accelerate Nextpower’s ability to provide global support and integrated solutions to solar project developers and EPC companies across Europe.
The total value of the transaction, realized through a combination of cash and shares, may reach 330 million euros (approximately 378 million dollars, at the exchange rate of June 20, 2026) and is subject to customary closing conditions, including obtaining the necessary regulatory approvals. The transaction is expected to close in the second half of Nextpower’s fiscal year 2027.
“This transaction is the next chapter in Nextpower’s international development,” said Dan Shugar, founder and CEO of Nextpower. “By integrating Zimmermann, we will significantly expand our product portfolio and strengthen our market presence and supply chain capabilities in Europe and beyond. Zimmermann’s structural solutions, including fixed systems, carports, high-density trackers, innovative agriPV solutions and floating PV systems, will expand our European portfolio to address a broader range of land use, project permitting and regional application requirements. We see a clear opportunity to combine Zimmermann’s design and execution expertise with Nextpower’s financial strength and comprehensive product platform to better serve our customers’ needs in Europe and accelerate profitable growth internationally.”
“Zimmermann has grown by always focusing on customer needs and delivering high-quality technical solutions tailored to the specific requirements of each project,” added Robert Zimmermann, owner and CEO of Zimmermann. “We see Nextpower as a partner with complementary technologies, a broad geographic footprint and the same customer focus. The company brings the scale, solutions and capabilities needed to serve customers on a larger scale, while maintaining the local relationships and engineering expertise that have defined the business. This is an important new chapter for our company, our employees, as well as our customers, suppliers and partners across Europe.”
According to S&P Global, fixed systems currently represent approximately 50% of the European utility PV market, particularly in countries such as Germany, France and Poland. Together with the recent international launch of the NX Gemini™ tracker in 2P configuration (two modules in portrait format), the transaction is expected to double Nextpower’s growth opportunities in the European market.
After the transaction is completed, the company will operate under the name “Zimmermann PV, a Nextpower Company”, ensuring continuity of relationships with customers, employees and regional partners while benefiting from Nextpower’s global scale and resources.
