Monsson announces that its Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), installed in the village of Gălbiori (Constanța County), has successfully obtained safety compliance certification, complying with the international standard IEC 62933-5-2:2020 and the DNV-EESS:2023-08 methodology for grid-connected electrochemical energy storage systems, according to a press release.

The certification was issued by DNV Renewables Certification GmbH, one of the world’s most respected independent risk management and quality assurance bodies, confirming that Monsson’s energy storage solution, in a hall-type construction and not containerized, meets the highest international standards in terms of design and operational safety. This is a certification that no other storage system located in Romania or Europe currently holds.

“With product certifications already being a standard practice in the industry, Monsson has chosen to extend this rigor to the operational system level, subjecting the actual configuration of the BESS to an independent assessment process carried out by DNV. This certification validates not only the quality of the equipment, but also the integration, control logic and operational safety under real operating conditions. This approach reflects how we understand our role in the development of the energy storage market: not just as an operator, but as an active part of a modern, safe and responsible energy ecosystem. We want the rigor applied here to become a reference in the industry,” said Sebastian Enache, member of the Monsson board of directors.

The storage unit put into operation has an installed capacity of 72 MWh and is built by Monsson, through a unique project, which uses domestically produced PRIME batteries. This installed capacity will increase to a total of 216 MWh of storage capacity that will be put into operation during this year and early next year, at the same location. The concept is modular and suitable for large-capacity storage solutions, using the latest monitoring and safety technologies for this product period. The monitoring and control software is developed by the Monsson team and is usable for both the Storage System and energy trading.
