The Ministry of Energy has made payments of 138.64 million euro this year to beneficiaries of projects financed from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), while another 75 transfer requests, totaling approximately 126.28 million euro, are being processed, the institution announced.

Only during the period 6-10 July 2026, the Ministry of Energy authorized and made payments for six transfer requests related to projects through the PNRR, totaling 8.44 million euros.

Since the launch of the program, the cumulative value of payments made to beneficiaries of projects financed through the PNRR has reached approximately 351 million euros, and that of terminated contracts has reached 67.04 million euros.

The Ministry of Energy data shows that in 2024 no application was submitted for PNRR funds, while in 2025 33 files were registered, worth 76.75 million euros, and in 2026 another 42 files, with a cumulative value of approximately 49.53 million euros.

According to the cited source, the amount available for submitting new payment requests is approximately 269.83 million euros, an amount that can be adjusted depending on the evolution of the implementation of financing contracts that may be terminated, as well as the PNRR negotiation process currently carried out by the Ministry of Investments and European Projects (MIPE) with the European Commission.

The institution’s representatives state that the implementation of projects financed through the PNRR is recording a concrete evolution, noting that clear targets are assumed at the institutional level, with an emphasis on unblocking and streamlining payment flows, so that “the available funds are utilized on time and with real impact on the projects under implementation”.

In this regard, measures have been taken to extend the project implementation deadlines, in order to benefit from the entire eligibility period provided for in Regulation (EU) 2021/241. “Additionally, since 80% of transfer requests are final, monitoring visits have been prioritized. In addition, in order to shorten the duration of the process of authorizing final requests, we decided to authorize final transfer requests based on the notification of energizing, a stage in which investments financed through the PNRR are considered completed”, the institution reported.

The Ministry of Energy reaffirms its commitment to ensure the prompt processing of transfer requests and to support beneficiaries in the implementation of projects financed through the PNRR. “As an increasing number of investments are successfully completed, institutional efforts are focused on the projects remaining in implementation, in order to facilitate their completion within the agreed deadlines. The sustained pace of payments and the progress recorded confirm the advance of investments in the energy sector and contribute to accelerating the process of modernization and energy transition of Romania,” the statement added.
