The General Assembly of the Romanian Energy Suppliers Association – AFEER, meeting on October 2, 2023, appointed its management for the next two years, respectively the President and the members of the Steering Committee both for the activity of supplying and trading electricity, as well as for gases.

Laurentiu Urluescu (GEN-I) was re-elected president of the Association.

The Board of Directors elected for the activity in the field of electricity consists of: Dana Cănea (OMV Petrom), Tudor Cîrstea (Freepoint Commodities Europe), Cristian Culea (Enel Energie Muntenia) and Aurel Mândrican (CEZ Vânzare).

The Board of Directors elected for the activity in the field of natural gas is made up of Melania Cozea (CEZ Vânzare), George Mihai (Tinmar Energy), Denisa Voiculescu (Engie Romania) and Cornel Zeveleanu (E.ON Energie Romania).

AFEER members also pointed out that the period since the last election has been a difficult one, with many challenges for both electricity and natural gas suppliers, due in particular to frequent changes in the regulatory framework, charging excessive of specific activities and delays in the settlement of amounts resulting from the application of caps and offsets. At the same time, they expressed their hope that, in the coming period, measures will be adopted to ensure a free, liquid market, which will satisfy both the demands of consumers, but also ensure the safety of supplying them with electricity and natural gas.

“We will continue to promote the development of the electricity and natural gas market and simple and clear consumer information; we will continue to encourage and stimulate fair competition, transparency, non-discriminatory market access, business ethics, application of international best practices, especially now, when the geopolitical crisis has caused an unprecedented energy crisis. We continue to campaign for the consultation of the business environment before the authorities make decisions that affect the activity on the energy market, in order to avoid affecting it. Let’s not forget that we all want, both market players and governments, to provide end customers – domestic and industrial – with a quality, safe, secure, sustainable, competitive and fair-priced energy supply,” said the president AFEER, Laurențiu Urluescu.

AFEER, established in 2006, currently includes a number of 38 members, suppliers and traders licensed and active on the electricity and/or natural gas market, which ensure the supply of energy both to private consumers and to SMEs and consumers from all categories of economic agents operating in Romania, with a market share of about 85% of the final consumption of electricity and 85% of the final consumption of natural gas.
